Free Write
It's always wonderful when a teacher can spark an interest in a student's mind-- It's the reason I chose this profession, because I care deeply about each and every one of you! A few of you have expressed an interest in writing poetry, and other genres, and have shared with me examples of your own beautiful writing done outside of class. Publishing our work is one of the best ways to express our views to the world around us-- and ultimately connect to each other through words! I have decided to create this post as a place where you can publish any outside writing you have done to share it with the world. Whether you enjoy poetry, short stories, or creating simple lines of writing, this is a space where you are able to express it. Feel free to post any of your literary creations here!

ReplyDeleteThe season is coming
The winds turning cold
My favorite holiday follows
Loved by both young and the old
The season is coming
All leaves off the tree
Replaced by white glitter
My favorite thing to see
The holiday's arriving
The trees are all up
Lights glide around the house
With cookies on plates and milk in a cup
The day has come
Presents under the tree
Families celebrate together
And fill up with glee.

Harambe, he enjoyed his life,
ReplyDeletehad nothing much to do.
He sat around and ate all day
in the Cincinnati Zoo.
Born in Texas in ninety-nine,
to Ohio then he went.
He lived there only sixteen months,
before his life was spent.
He was a massive silverback,
the largest gorillas known.
He led and supervised his troops
like a king upon a throne.
Was destined to become a dad
when he had grown some more.
Mara and Chewie were his girls;
both of them he did adore.
One day there was a little boy,
who tried to get quite near.
He fell into Harambe's cage
and the folks began to fear.
He tried to save the boy that day.
Confused with all the din,
perhaps he was somewhat too rough
and thought that the boy was kin.
That little boy was standing there
when they shot Harambe dead.
He knew not what was happening,
he was not feeling dread.
The moral of this sad, sad tale
is don’t get in a cage,
neither man nor "savage" beast,
you'll both feel mankind's rage.

My name is Pat
ReplyDeleteI am very fat
I went skydiving
And went splat
My name is Mary
I am very hairy
I shaved myself
I looked very scary
My name is Mike
I have a bike
I can’t steer it
I hit a spike
My name is Paul
I have a doll
It is Rapunzel
I threw it at a wall
My name is John
I am known to yawn
I am tired
Good night

CLOWNS!!!
ReplyDeleteLurking in the dark they aren't very smart
In the bushes they hide cause there very weird guys
They make us cry and sometimes die
They are so scary, that is why
Last time a clown jumped out at me
I hit a bat right too his knee
And next I will aim for his spleen
Because he is not very keen
So next time you see a clown
Don’t be down or
Run with a frown
Just don’t clown around.

This is a poem that you said to post.
ReplyDelete--Shadows--
Shadows lurking everywhere
In small crooks and crevices,
In between the pages of a book,
They will always be there,
Even in the places you never dare look
Shadows hold fear,
Shadows are always near
They hide the hope you should hold dear
Shadows devour the power
Of love and laughter,
Except for the cold, icy breeze that freezes your ears
Even in shadows, there's a light
Wishing, waiting, for someone ti ignite
Although you shiver and flinch,
That light may help you move an inch
Where there are shadows waiting,
There is always hope painting.
Cheer is good,
ReplyDeletebut our group chat is better
We talk about cheer
and what to wear with my sweater
Payton quotes Stacey Dillsen,
Kendall says my emojis are as black as my soul
I send videos with my friend Jillian,
Of us with our mannequin heads on a stroll
I look like a moldy potato,
my coach will send pics
We wear ducktape bows
and Payton's got some black kicks
Julia's sister steals her makeup
Madi almost broke her nose
My coach laughs at our push-ups
We tye-dye too many clothes
Tori and I are getting stronger,
Chelsea slightly bleeds
We need to make our back handsprings longer
In cheers people sometimes mislead
Morgan's dog dances to a tune
Expensive eyebrow pencils get broken
Practices were late in the afternoon
There was a bonding circle where some words were spoken
This is my team
My love and my home
They're better than ice cream
And they make laughter roam.

Alive--(Written 11.10.16)
ReplyDeleteAlive for a purpose
Alive for a plan
Alive together,
Hand-in-hand,
Alive to dream
Alive to hope
Alive to live
Alive to laugh
And be a colorful kaleidoscope,
Alive for promise,
Like the dove in your hand,
Alive with power
Alive with blessings
Alive for each other,
To support and praise one another
-Friends- (Written 11.10.16)
ReplyDeleteFriends are easy to find,
Easy to keep,
But a good friend is someone who sees me for me
They agree, disagree,
Or agree to disagree
They are support
They are laughter
They are caring
They are kind
They are special
A friend is someone who's there
Who will give advice,
Who will help you up the wall of stairs
They don't abandon
They never leave
They are someone who will help me succeed,
Have you fond someone with these qualities?
Have you ever known someone so unique?

Who Am I? (Written by Kate Conlan, 5.4.16)
ReplyDeleteWho am I?
I don't know,
Sometimes I get things done,
Sometimes I know I haven't won
Somethings I'd like to forget forever,
Somethings never leave me, never
If only it was calm like the sunset,
But it's more like a life or death bet
If only it was as easy as reading a book,
Instead of being stuck in a small crook
Who am I? Who am I? Who am I?
Can you tell me?
Can you whisper it to me?
Like a soft, buzzing bee?

Had'em
Salami
ReplyDeleteSalami you are the worst of stanks
You should be a meme that is dank
I threw you into Leah's ketchup
Now you need to catch up
Your stank makes you fall blank
Soap Cookies
Lemon-soap cookies
you stank like the salami
rotting in ketchup
Locked Door
I reach for my door and twist the knob
But the door is locked, I start to sob
All of my papers, all of my books
Locked away where I can't looks
After this experience I cannot grin
Am I locked out, or are you locked in...
Sunshine
The brightness begins to glow
My fear begins to show
The monster wants to feast
I must hide, it comes from the east
It just rises, doesn't argue with the crows
Nothing can stop it, it spreads and flows
I have been captured, I have been taken
I start to roast like bacon
I repent my last time as I cave in to the beast
Snap Crackle Pop
That's all I hear
Too bad I can't see that little leprechaun
Under the tree
In my knee
I see
A leprechaun
Monster Inc Boy
You little monster inc boy
Always bringing me joy
With you slapping your knees
At Mike's joke
In the end he spoke
Biscuits
Popeye's blesses the soul
It’s food never grows old
Although there is a bit of fat,
Nothing will separate me from that
One thing I must say….

Nemo
A fish was lost
Now he’s found
His Favorite food is biscuits
As he shouts to the world
DEEZ BISCUITS
The Bird
As I looked out the window
I saw a beautiful bird
As Alyssa was talking about Bubbly Wubbly
I watched the bird
It crashed into the building
I was sad
As people snapped for Bubbly Wubbly
Dancing Stars
The star was on a sticker
I found one day in History
It was the bee’s knees
What that star was doing is a mystery
Bubbly Wubbly
Bubbly Wubbly was a great fish…. Or so I heard
He would dance for the people in his bowl
Until he died
When he died he sang
Alyssa bye
I will never forget you
When you picked me up at the festival
It was a great surprise
When you picked me up
My little eyes staring at you

It speaks forth, it glistens
Sometimes I like to type in,

Haribo
As I watched those gummy bears move across the room
People stared and shared why they looked at them
Sadly Brendan ate them with his big mouth
I never got one
Kleenex
People sneeze and wheeze
They cough and Bough
Kleenex is the only thing that Leah has
She loves eating kleenex
And biscuits
Leah Da Bubble
Leah was walking one day
Eating biscuits
She blew a biscuit bubble
She liked the biscuit bubble
She ate the biscuit bubble
She is the biscuit bubble
That's how she got her name
Leah Da Bubble
Cheesy
The wrapper on Leahs
Mac and Cheese
The wrapper hanging on the wall
Mac and Cheese
The snack that is my soul
Cheesy Biscuit
Furby!
Feed Me! Feed me! Feed me!
That’s all they say
They want you to play with them
Night and day
The only thing I will feed a furby is
Deez biscuits
Gracie
I have a wallpaper of her
She looks like a biscuit
She has cheesy eyes
She stares into nothing
She is stank at Wormax
Gracie also likes Brad
She wants biscuits

The waves roll up,
ReplyDeleteand sink back down.
It is your own choice whether to chase them.
If you do, it is a risk.
You may also sit upon the sand,
and watch them sink down with the rest.
Chasing those waves may be the death of yourself
if it is swallowed before you touch it.
But another wave is bound to come,
you never know which one is yours.
I never look into a person's eyes
ReplyDeletenot because I'm sad or shy
not because I don't like you
or because I'm scared to
It's because your eyes
so big and full
are the windows to your soul.
They show your weaknesses and lies
and reveal everything deep inside.
I never look into a person's eyes
because they show when you've cried
because they are personal things to show
because they reveal what you know
It's not because I'm not listening
or because you're not interesting.
It's because I know
that your eyes don't only roll.
They show emotions; fear and sadness
That your eyes can be engulfed in malice.
Your eyes connect you to others
but you can't see the world through another's.
I never look into a person's eyes
for fear that I will see past their disguise
that the real them would soon come out
and that I would find out what they're all about.
So if I ever look into your eyes,
know that I will tell you no lies.
